Fully-funded scholarships for short-term research in Japan are available to ten British postgraduate students under the JSPS Summer Programme. As well as allowing individual students to gain important research experience abroad, these scholarships could help establish your institution's relationship with a Japanese partner.
About the programme
Run by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in partnership with British Council Japan, it provides opportunities for young pre- and post-doctoral researchers to receive an orientation on Japanese culture and research systems and to pursue research under the guidance of host researchers at Japanese universities and research institutes over a period of two months during the summer. Awards include
international travel and an allowance to cover room and board.
Eligibility
Applicants must have UK nationality, citizenship, or permanent residence and be of graduate student status (MA or PhD) or recent PhD holders. Their research may be in any field.
Duration of programme: 15 June 2010 to 25 August 2010
Deadline for applications: 15 January 2010 (postmarked)
